Chad Johnson, the estranged husband of Basketball Wife Evelyn Lozada, has reportedly lost an endorsement as a result of a domestic violence incident that took place earlier this week.

ESPN has reported that Chad was dumped by the coconut water company Zico as a result of the negative publicity he received after being accused of head-butting his wife during a fight.   The deal was just announced on July 25, but the company has cut Chad faster than he was cut by his wife and the Dolphins.

“The Zico brand is about supporting naturally powered athletes,” the company said in a statement. “We partnered with Chad Johnson because of our great respect for what he has achieved on the playing field.

“However, in light of recent events involving Mr. Johnson, we have decided to terminate our relationship. The values we espouse, through our employees, our customers and our brand, are central to our mission. We have taken this proactive step to demonstrate just how important those values are.”

Making matters even more humiliating, the firing of Chad from the Dolphins was featured as part of the video for the show, “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Miami Dolphins.”  In the video, Johnson is seen begging for his job and being told that the organization has no place for him.

“Where we are as a program, and where you are, and where we’re headed, I don’t see the mesh right now,” said Dolphins coach Joe Philbin.

“I wish it was different. I wish I could tell you something more encouraging. I think it’s just best for both of us that we part ways at this point in time.”

  1. Sad and humiliating, why was it necessary to make anyone’s firing public?
