The woman behind the popular daytime talk show, “The View”, Barbara Walters, spoke to her good friend, Donald Trump, in front of a live audience after his underwhelming announcement on Wednesday. Trump announced that he would give $5 million to any charity that President Obama chose if Obama would show him his passport and college applications.
Last week, Trump announced that he had an “October Surprise” with regards to President Obama. The billionaire real estate mogul claimed that the surprise would change the upcoming presidential elections in a major way. Trump’s surprise turned out to be the same boring story which goes back to the so-called “birther” movement that alleges that Obama was not born in the U.S. and is not eligible to be president.
The President already released his birth certificate, last year, and it was verified as valid by Hawaii’s Republican governor.
On Thursday, Walters decided to be the one to tell her good friend, Donald Trump, that he was embarrassing himself. During “the View”, she looked directly at the camera and addressed her friend, saying,
“You and I have known each other for many years and you know that I am your friend, and I think you are a brilliant businessman, and you are great on television, and you have a fascinating personality. Donald, you’re making a fool of yourself. You’re not hurting Obama. You’re hurting Donald, and that hurts me because you’re a decent man. Stop it. Get off it, Donald.”
The President also thought Trump was amusing. He even mocked him while making an appearance on “The Tonight Show,” earlier this week.
The other ladies on “The View” with Walters also had a good laugh, suggesting that maybe Trump was just trying to get attention because his show, “Celebrity Apprentice” was coming back on.
The moderator on “The View”, Whoopi Goldberg said,
“It’s crazy because, you know, you would think if he wants a passport, that the birth certificate that he’s been showing endlessly, the information would probably be the same and it just doesn’t make sense.”
The general consensus among the women on the show was that Donald Trump had reduced himself to a joke.
