George Michael In a Car Crash, Gets Out of the Hospital Two Weeks Later

George Michael finally has his freedom … from a British hospital bed … where he’s spent the last 2 weeks recovering from head injuries sustained in a nasty car wreck.

Michael’s people released a statement on his official website … saying, “We can confirm that George Michael has been discharged from hospital and continues to rest and recuperate. He is well and thanks everyone for all the messages of support.”

Michael was airlifted to a hospital May 16 for a head injury, as TMZ previously reported. He was the passenger in a Range Rover that crashed on a major freeway just outside London at rush hour … no other vehicles were involved, and there’s still no word on what caused the crash.

It was pretty bad — emergency responders said Michael was immobilized, then rushed by ambulance and helicopter to the hospital, where he spent the past two weeks.

Been a tough couple of years for Michael, whose 2011 bout with pneumonia he called “the worst month of my life.”
