Chicago violence has gotten out of control. This week was yet another example of the pervasiveness of the epidemic, where 12 people were shot in a park, including a three year old boy. The baby was shot in the face and police say that he wasn’t making sounds when he was taken away in an ambulance.
The incident occurred in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on Thursday night, according to police. According to Fire Department Deputy District Chief James Mungovan, victims were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the victims have been listed in serious-to-critical condition.
“I didn’t hear no sounds,” from the child, he said.
The shooting took place on a basketball court. The incident is part of a growing concern about the violence in Chicago.
So far, Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been able to stop the violence problem. He has also been heavily criticized for not being able to stop the flow of guns into the inner city.
