The man who is believed to be responsible for the death of the 2-year old son of NFL star Adrian Peterson has a long history of violence, according to the Argus Leader Newspaper.
The player’s son died at a hospital in Sioux Falls hospital after allegedly being attacked by Joseph Robert Patterson, the boyfriend of the child’s mother.
Peterson isn’t saying much about what happened, only that it’s a “private matter,” and asking to be left alone to deal with his family. But it’s hardly private, since nearly every media outlet in the world is talking about it.
“This is a private matter and I would ask you all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand,” he said.
Patterson, who is 27-years old, is being held on a bond of $750,000. His charges are going to be changed since the child has died.
Back in 2012, Patterson was indicted on multiple counts of simple assault of an ex-girlfriend and her three-year old son. He was also charged with violating a no-contact order issued by the courts. He was sentenced to a year in jail, but the sentence was suspended.
The woman who was first victimized by the man says that her son was spanked so badly for the way he acted in church that he needed ice for his rear end. She says that when she confronted him about his behavior, he sent the kids to their room and put his hands around her throat.
“He has (threatened) to kill me multiple times,” she wrote.
She is not the only woman to have been victimized by the man. Back in 2004, a restraining order was filed against him by a woman he attended high school with.
