An ambitious girl scout from Queens, NY has marked her territory with selling 2,833 boxes of cookies. The top seller, Najah Lordeout has claimed the official Girl Scout honor by ranking as the number 1 seller in the state.
“I didn’t do anything differently from last year,” said the seventh-grader, Najah who attends Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy in Douglaston. “I was just more determined.”
She has dominated networking at the age of 12-years-old by promoting sales with her church members, neighbors, and family members.
“I’ve been trying to reach my goal and sell over 2,000 for the last three years,” said Olivia Crenshaw who came in second place. “Najah did a very good job. I am going to try for an even higher number next year.” She continued, “I’m going to try for a higher number next year,” Olivia said. “Maybe 2,500 boxes.”
All of Najah’s efforts to reach her sales goals have inspired those around her. She received support from the public after a featured article in the Daily News about girls’ good nature rivalry.
“They saw the article and called me,” she said. “They wanted to support me and help me reach the top.”
Najah, the top seller, said that she screamed and ran all over the house when she found out what her efforts awarded her. Najah’s father expressed his excitement for his daughter’s accomplishment and determination.
“She really put in a lot of work,” said Donovan Lorde, adding with a laugh, “she drove her mother and myself crazy, but we’re very proud.”
Now that she has stepped into the arena of self-accomplishment through hard work, it will be amazing to see where she goes from her. Her tenacity in spirit and will to meet her goal is inspiring to all that has tried to reach a goal.
