A magician and YouTube prankster who goes by Rahat decided to donate $1,000 to a local homeless man. But he did it on camera, by pranking the man, whose name is Eric.
After getting a bogus ticket and prepping the store clerk to say it was a winner, Rahat approached Eric who sat on the street corner.
“Listen man, I don’t really have any money to give you but I do have this winning lottery ticket,” Rahat said. “I don’t really know how much I won. … I can give this to you. I can take you to the store and we can get this cashed.”
After a moment’s skepticism, Eric decided to go with Rahat.
“That’s cool my friend,” Eric said.
After turning in the ticket, the store clerk told Eric he won $1,000.
“You’re kidding me right. You’re kidding me right. You’re kidding me… you’re kidding me…” Eric said.
The clerk counted out the money and handed it over.
With shaking hands, Eric turned to Rahat.
“I want to share it with you my friend. I’d like to share it with you big guy,” he said.
Rahat refused saying “it’s all yours.”
Eric then looked to the money and started to cry. The two men then embraced.
Outside the store, Eric said, “I’ve been doing this for a long time… a long time. And never, never had a friend, had somebody do what you just did back there. Never.”
The video has been viewed more than 10 million times. Rahat set up a Fundly.com account to raise money to improve Eric’s life. The goal of $20,000 was eclipsed in three days.
